Ninja Weapons – Fascinating and Ingenious

The Ninja were a group specially trained warriors and they were adept at using a variety of weapons and martial arts. Due to the nature of what they did, the weapons used were varied and often quite creative, sometimes to the point of not even being recognized as a weapon at first glance. Ninja weapons range from traditional weapons such as swords, to throwing weapons and even devices that would act as bombs that contained sand or metal dust.

Today the traditional and throwing weapons are the most popular of the ninja weapons. Especially the swords used by ninjas are extremely popular. These were the katana and wakizashi, which only differ in size with the wakizashi being the smaller weapon. Other swords were disguised as other objects so that they could not easily be recognized for what they were, such as the kama which at first glance seemed to be an ordinary sickle. Also well known and gaining on popularity are the throwing stars and knives which were once favorite ninja weapons, as well as shuriken which are small stake-like objects made of steel or iron and which were also thrown at an opponent. Albeit as a distraction and not as a weapon meant to harm.

Ninja weapons are great for being put on display, since there is such a wide range of them. Having a complete collection of the various types and styles of weapons can take up a lot of room, but it is well worth it and makes an impressive sight to see.  Especially having several of the not-so-obvious ninja weapons is fun to have. Since many of these weapons, and especially the swords, can be dangerous it is important to keep them on display where they are out of the reach of others in order to avoid potential injuries. The best methods to show off ninja weapons are behind glass cases or on wall mounts.

Of course ninja weapons can also be used, since many of them are fully functional. Ninjas were well trained martial artists and many of the weapons are also used when training at higher levels of disciplines, such as ninjutsu and jiu jitsu. Anyone wanting to train with ninja weapons should have as many kinds as possible since every ninja is well versed in a variety of weapons.

Military Swords Have Their Own Beauty

Most people do not realize just how diverse and varied military swords are. The term military can refer to historical armies and the swords they used or can mean more modern swords, such as those used on artillery as the case with bayonets. Although used for fighting, military swords are in almost every case fine, elegant and exquisitely styled. Although there are many kinds of swords, it is fairly easy to recognize those that were used for military purposes because they have features that are different from other standard forms of swords like katana or broad swords.

Military swords are distinguished by their characteristically long, thin blades and one handed, short handle that usually is protected by hand guards and a wider hilt. The blades can be curved or straight, but they are always narrow and in some cases practically round which makes them perfect thrusting weapons. The hilt can be very elaborate on some military swords, such as the basket hilt on many Scottish swords. There are many brands of military swords, but among the best ones are Cold Steel, United Cutlery, Weyersberg and Hanwei by Paul Chen. The military swords that are meant to be replicas for displays are made of different materials than battle ready swords. Stainless steel is used for blades of display swords whereas high carbon steel is necessary for battle ready weapons.

It is generally easy to use military swords because they are lightweight and can easily be held and swung with one hand. This makes them suitable to be used by everyone and especially for beginners and those that do not have great physical strength or training. There are many battle ready and functional military swords for sale and it is just a matter of searching through the online stores to find the one that you like. You can choose from historical models, such as the saber used by Napoleon or even a cutlass sword or cavalry sword used by the U.S. military during the Civil War.  There are also functional military swords which are based on models from foreign countries too, such as India and China.
