Maintaining your blades are probably one of the most important factor for the sword collector, at least the serious one. Owning a sword maintenance kit is very important but you also must know how to use it. Owning such a kit will allow you to keep your blade in the same state it was when it was forged.

A serious blade collector will make sure that a blade maintenance is done every two to three months and most important any time a blade is touched (This is highly important).

A good maintenance kit will be composed of the following items:

  1. Cotton Cloth
  2. Powder ball (to apply polishing powder on your swords blades)
  3. Blade oil
  4. Rice paper - The ideal material to clean, polish and spread the oil on the blade
  5. Brass hammer - The ideal tool to remove bamboo pins in the grip (do not perform this step to often, the bamboo pin will wear making your grip looser every time.)

With a cleaning kit like this you are very well equipped to clean your swords and make sure your collection remains in perfect quality.
